Upgrade Guide using the PowerSpec Windows 10 Disks

The following instructions are for installing Windows 10 using the media provided with the system.

1- The Windows 10 Operating System Disk
2- The PowerSpec Drivers Disk


Note:
Some PowerSpec models do not come with a Drivers disk.
If your system did not come with a drivers disk , the drivers have been preinstalled to the recovery image.
The Drivers disk is not required for these systems.


We suggest printing this page to use during installation.

Before you start the upgrade...
  • Only a CLEAN INSTALL is possible using these disks
  • Back up all of your data to an external drive

  • Important:
    Windows 10 does not include "DVD playback" software for viewing movies and videos
  • Visit you local Micro Center to purchase software for viewing movies and videos with Windows 10
Install the Windows 10 Operating System
  • Insert the Windows 10 Pro Recovery disk into the optical drive
  • Shut the system down
  • Turn the system back on and press any key when prompted to boot the Recovery disk
  • The system will boot from the DVD (this will take several minutes), then you will see the Windows Setup menu
  • Click Next to continue the installation

    The hard disk partitions must be removed before installing Windows 10
  • Select a partition on Drive 0 and Click Delete, repeat this for all partitions and click OK on each confirmation pop up
    (Unallocated Space should be the only thing left)
  • Click Next to start installing Windows 10
  • The system will reboot, (don't press any key to boot to dvd this time) and you can remove the DVD from the optical drive
  • The system will continue configuration
  • When the system restarts, enter your information on each screen
  • The system will do its final configuration
  • Installation is complete
Install the drivers...
    Note:
    Some PowerSpec models do not come with a Drivers disk.
    If your system did not come with a drivers disk , the drivers have been preinstalled to the recovery image.
    The Drivers and Updates disk is not required for these systems and you can skip this step.

  • After Windows 10 has been installed, the drivers need to be installed using the Drivers disk
  • Insert the Drivers disk
  • An action prompt will appear
  • Select 'Run Autorun.exe' or 'Run PowerSpecUpdate.exe'

    Note: If the prompt does not appear...
  • From the Start screen, Select the Desktop, then File Explorer folder from the task bar
  • Select Computer, double click the DVD drive, right click 'PowerSpecUpdate'
  • Select 'Run as administrator', then click Yes

  • Click 'Install' and the drivers will be installed
  • Restart the system when prompted
  • Manually eject the Drivers disk
Restore Data and Reinstall Applications
  • Restore your data from your backup
  • Reinstall your applications from the original source
